There are many things in life that effect the way you live. Living through any type of abuse will shape your life in ways that are hard to explain. I always say that unless you have been abused, then you will not understand. Most people do not understand why I jump at every shadow or noise, why I can't walk around my housing area alone for exercise, why I prefer to be in my house where I know I am safe and locked in. This is not the life I would like to live if I had a choice in the matter. Some people tell me to get over it, but unfortunately the mind does not work like that. This is a brutally honest look into the life of an abuse victim that lives with PTSD, OCD, Anxiety and Depression. The bruises of abuse fade with time, but the torment remains. There are days the torment feels overwhelming, but I continue to fight the battle. I share this embarrassing part of my life only because I hope that it will help someone else. I know I am not alone in this battle and I want other people to know they are not alone either.
